  Restaurant was cold and drafty. Table sticky. Initial waitress took order fine. 4 p.m. change of staff. All downhill. Mistakes in order. Wrong items brought. While some of us ate, one diner had to wait while the order was corrected. We were eating dessert while the other diner ate his meal. When the dessert was brought, another mistake. New one had to be gotten. Time to pay. Gave 2 credit cards with specific directions to server. Again another mistake. Charges put on wrong card. A credit had to be issued. We asked for a copy of the credit and the waitress said no.
  Take a pix of it. We did and were most annoyed. If the place wasn't so crowded. We would have taken issue. Needless to say we will never patronize this place again and will warn off all our friends.as for the food, the seafood bisque was tasteless and the fried cod only fair. 12.95 for a little dish of slaw and 3 tiny pieces of fish is outrageous. Mousse cake was good. Never again.

  I cant say enough about Varney's, it is a tradition. Every time we come to long island we eat at Varney's at least a couple of times. The fish and clams are delicious. the potato salad and the coleslaw YUM! Even the home made desserts (if you have room) are delicious.
